**Did you know May 11th is Solana Center Day in San Diego County?**

During our 40th Anniversary Celebration, Solana Center was honored with a special proclamation from the County of San Diego Vice Chair, Terra Lawson Reemer. Presented by Cipriano Vargas, Manager of Community Engagement, Office of County Board of Supervisors Vice Chair Terra Lawson-Remer. The proclamation states:

WHEREAS, Solana Center for Environmental Innovation demonstrated the first operational regional partnership between a food business and an agricultural site, leading to the revision of San Diego County's Organic Materials Ordinance; and,

WHEREAS, Solana Center for Environmental Innovation sounded concerns of economic disincentives that work against climate change abatements, such as below-cost landfill tipping fees; and,

WHEREAS, Solana Center for Environmental Innovation provides community-driven waste education, including a service ware rental program to address waste generated by social gatherings to encourage a circular use of goods; and

WHEREAS, Solana Center for Environmental Innovation is dedicated to making San Diego County an environmental leader by empowering individuals and communities to take meaningful action to fight climate change; and,

WHEREAS, the County of San Diego is committed to recognizing and honoring those San Diego organizations and individuals that are noteworthy, and the Solana Center is one such worthy organization; NOW THEREFORE,

BE IT PROCLAIMED, by Vice Chair Lawson-Remer, that they commend the Solana Center for their outstanding 40 years of service and dedication to environmental innovation and climate action in our region and do hereby declare this 11th day of May 2024 to be "Solana Center Day" throughout San Diego County.
