Solana Center Supports Zero Waste Symposium

Are you excited about the upcoming Zero Waste Symposium? We sure are! At last year's Symposium, Solana Center’s Executive Director Jessica Toth, spoke about the growing movement toward community composting.  We are excited to be involved again this year, leading a breakout session on diverting organics from the landfill.  This symposium is a great opportunity for government leaders, businesses, nonprofits, and citizens in San Diego to discuss pressing issues concerning Zero Waste. "Zero Waste is more and more relevant to all of us," said Ms. Toth.  "Just last week, the County Board of Supervisors voted to begin working toward a Zero Waste plan, based on Supervisor Dave Roberts' recommendation.  The County has already committed to 75% diversion by 2020.  Beginning next year, food-generating businesses will be restricted from landfilling food waste.  Where will edibles and compostables go?  The San Diego Zero Waste Symposium will bring together thought-leaders to plot the course." We hope to see you there! WHEN: February 17, 2015 9:00am – 5:00pm WHERE: County of San Diego’s Campus Center Chambers at the County Operations Center at 5520 Overland Avenue, San Diego, California, 92123.
