  • Can I get additional buckets?
Yes, you may get as many buckets as you want. This is a great idea to reduce the number of trips you have to make to the Center. It is a one time fee of $15 per bucket.

  • When can I drop off my bucket?
Buckets can be dropped off on Thursdays from 12:00 - 5:00 PM and Saturdays from 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM. If you would like to purchase more bokashi bran during your drop-off, please email foodcycle@solanacenter.org the day before your visit and we will have a bag waiting for you!

  • What can I add to my bucket?
ANY organic material. This includes meat, bones, dairy, fruits, and vegetables.

  • Do I need to use bokashi bran even if I am vegan?

See the bokashi instruction sheet. Download the Bokashi Best Practices Fact Sheet.

  • Can I add paper towels?
Yes, you can add paper towels even if they are bleached. However, the goal of this program is to reduce food waste more than paper waste.

Yes, moldy food is A-okay. It has already started its decomposition process.

  • Can I add raw meat to it?
Yes, you can add any meat, bones, and animal products freely.
