It also uses less energy and heats & cools more quickly than either gas or standard electric stoves. San Diego County residents can reserve to check out a Duxtop 9100mc induction cooktop and a compatible pan. Discover the advantages of reducing pollution and greenhouse gas emissions through home electrification.

Our Induction Cooktop rental program allows you to experience the lifestyle and environmental benefits of decarbonization by converting from gas to induction stovetops before you invest in a new home system. Induction cooking uses electromagnets to directly heat up its hot plate surface, referred to as burner in traditional gas stove. Electromagnetism allows for quicker heating, a safer cooking surface, more control on cooking temperatures, and reduced amounts of indoor air pollution.

Duxtop Setup Instructions

Caution: Please notify us immediately if cooktop or power cord are damaged. DO NOT USE.

  • Always use a dedicated outlet

  • This unit is designed to operate using a 110/120V electrical outlet having a 15 amp capacity. This is a high draw appliance and should not share an outlet or circuit with any other electrical appliance.

  • Place the unit on a dry, stable, level, non-combustible, non-metallic surface away from other heat sources.

  • Allow at least 4 inches of space around the whole cooktop unit for proper ventilation.

  • Plug the power cord into the 120V/15 amp electrical socket you previously determined. The POWER INDICATOR light will illuminate red.

  • Cookware must be on the cooktop before pressing the ON/OFF button. Make sure the ingredients are in the compatible cookware and the cookware is centered on the COOKWARE ALIGNMENT GUIDE on the cooktop surface. It is important to keep magnetic items such as cutlery and foils off the cooktop because these can become very hot.

  • After cooking is completed, press the ON/OFF button to turn off the unit. The COOLING FAN will continue running to cool down the unit. A warning message "HOT" will appear on the LED READOUT DISPLAY, indicating the glass surface is still hot. The word "HOT" will only appear on the display if the cooktop has reached a pre-programmed internal temperature. The fan however, will remain on regardless of temperature once the unit is turned off.

  • Unplug the unit when not in use.

Tips

Induction works by creating a magnetic field between the cooktop and the pan. Cast iron, enameled cast iron, and some stainless steel pots are compatible with induction cooktops. You can test out your cookware to see if it is induction compatible by holding the magnet included in your kit to the bottom of your cookware. If the magnet sticks, it is compatible

Become familiarized with the cooktop before using.

Different models of induction cooktops operate differently. It is best to know the settings of the cooktop before the first use. The one included in this kit includes a timer as well as the option to cook by power level or temperature (if known). Web page to access the user manual is provided below.

Time your cooking appropriately.

Induction cooktops are more efficient than gas stoves and as a result food will cook faster. Being prepared for shorter cook times will help prevent accidentally overcooking your favorite dishes.
