This webinar will address small scale composting for farms and ranches with moderate quantities of organic materials, including manure. Improper disposal of organic waste is unsightly, breeds flies, and can create health issues for livestock. It also can contaminate local water sources. Using compost on your garden and landscaping conserves water, mitigates erosion, sequesters carbon, and can help your plants thrive.
What is an Aerated Static Pile (ASP)? Aerated static piles offer a simple and cost-effective method for composting organic materials. These contained systems force air through the compost pile, encouraging rapid decomposition without laborious turning. The system we will be discussing is perfect for a small amount of livestock, for instance, 1 - 10 horses.
Come join us as we virtually visit Climbing Dog Ranch in Escondido. Owners Bonnie and Chris Haupt have worked with the County to create an efficient system for composting their on-site manure and protecting local waterways.
