Food Cycle Program - April Volunteer Work Day

Get involved in our expanding food waste diversion program!

Solana Center Garden

Our Food Cycle bins are full and cooking away and yet the food waste collection from the community keeps pouring in. The buckets will be plenty stock piled by our next volunteer day; come help us incorporate incoming material by digging trenches and bury it right in the ground. Help our growing food waste diversion program be successful and learn about composting and the amazing Bokashi method!

In this event, you will assist with:

  • Digging trenches
  • Spreading Bokashi'd food waste
  • Washing buckets

The Food Cycle Program (previously named the Community Compost Program) is a co-op where San Diego County residents and small businesses preserve their organic waste using the Bokashi method and then deliver it to Solana Center to be turned into a nutritious soil amendment and distributed back into the community. If you are interested in becoming a member, find out more here!
