DESCRIPTION
Title: Environmental Educator
Compensation: $12.00-$13.50 per hour
Hours: Part Time
Start date: Open
The Solana Center for Environmental Innovation is an environmental
nonprofit in Encinitas. Through workshops, presentations, and community
outreach, the Solana Center partners with a variety of government agencies
and community-based organizations in creating and preserving a clean and
healthy environment. It specializes in storm-water and watershed
pollution-prevention education, used motor-oil recycling education, school
and community recycling education, proper disposal of household
hazardous-waste education, and composting.
Duties
The environmental educator reports to the pollution prevention program
manager. Duties include the following:
¥ Environmental education to included: recycling education, watershed presentations, staffing
booths at community outreach events
¥ Marketing events and presentations
¥ Recruiting and coordinating volunteers
¥ Maintaining educational
materials and displays
¥ Responding to inquiries from the public
¥ Assisting with record keeping
¥ Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
¥ Strong organizing skills and
ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
¥ Excellent written and oral communication skills
¥ Experience teaching children
¥ Experience organizing events and working with volunteers
¥ Computer proficiency, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and
Excel
¥ Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
¥ Access to a reliable vehicle, valid DriverÕs License
¥ Willingness to work evenings and weekends
¥ Can start work this month
