Step 1:
Identify where you live in San Diego County. Cities often subsidize the price of home compost bins for their residents. The Solana Center helps distribute the bins at a subsidized rate in participating jurisdictions. However, if your city is not offering a subsidized rate at this time, you can still purchase a home compost bin directly from the Solana Center at a reduced price . If you are outside San Diego County, you should use the order form for all other residents. Also, you can build your own compost or worm bin- see below for details!

Identify which type of home composting you would like do: backyard compost or vermicomposting (worm composting)?
Step 3:
Decide if you want to purchase or build your bin based on the most appropriate method for your needs.
Step 4: Purchasing a bin - we prefer cash or check for each purchase - (skip to Step 5 to build your own bin)
